WDC 2008 in Lockenhaus Castle/Austria
The Austrian Hobby (aka Tu Felix Austria) is looking forward to host the World Dipcon 2008 at Burg Lockenhaus, a medieval castle 90 minutes south of Vienna. We hope players from all over the world will come and join us in a four day Diplomacy party with a touch of the Middle Ages.
From Thursday, 14th to Sunday, 17th of August 2008, the new World Champion will lay claim to his crown in what we expect to be thrilling four rounds of Diplomacy. More information will follow during the next couple of months, here are the most important details of WDC 2008:
We actually are proud to announce that we succeeded in getting Burg Lockenhaus as the venue of WDC 2008. This castle is more than 800 years old and among the most popular tourism sites in Austria. Add to that the mysterious history of the castle itself and some asserted connections to the Knights Templar (well known throughout the world since Dan Browns 'Da Vinci Code') and you will get a sense of the amount of history you are going to breathe in this walls.
Given the fair weather we expect, we are going to play outdoor in one of the two theatres outside the castle. In any other case, we will play indoors in the huge ballroom of the castle.
Accommodation will be available in three categories, depending on the amount of comfort you want to enjoy, and on the amount of money you plan to spend.

There and Back again
Lockenhaus Castle is located in Burgenland, which is the easternmost district of Austria, surrounded by tiny villages and a beautiful landscape. It is some 90 minutes from Vienna (by car), but don't you worry: as promised, we stick to the usual "you come to Vienna, we take care of the rest".
On Thursday (14.08.) we'll offer a bus service from Vienna to the venue, and back on Sunday (17.08.) from the venue to Vienna. That means: you only have to come to Vienna (and find us at one of our two meeting points) and we'll do the rest. Getting to a WDC has probably never been easier :o)
